About Us
We started in 2000. We have photographed numerous weddings, family reunions, and commercial products for brochures and websites. We have a black and white darkroom and a wide format printer to reproduce the highest quality reproductions possible. Although we enjoy reproducing our photographic art we believe the client should have the right to reproduce the images they paid us to photograph.
We use a number of photographers that we have found over the years who hold our high standards. The owner and head photographer is Michael Shields. Michael attended the University of Wisconsin - Oshkosh and received a Bachelor of Fine Arts with an emphasis in Fine Art Photography and also an emphasis in Fine Art Painting. Michael also received a Bachelor of Arts Degree with a major in Philosophy.
Michael has had numerous solo exhibitions showing his art in various mediums like painting, photography and sculpture. Michael's artwork is in various private collections. Michael won a juried artshow by the Paine Art Center and the winning artwork is in the collection of the Paine Art Center. Michael also has artwork in the collection of the University of Wisconsin.
Shields Photographic Arts uses both digital and film cameras. We use the film cameras mainly for traditional black and white photography. We mainly use a Pentax 6x7 camera with a standard lens and a fisheye lens. Most photography is done with our digital SLR camera. We are very skilled in digital programs like Adobe Photoshop and Corel Painter.
